Our Purpose

“To foster a community of communication without limits”

Access Plus WA Deaf has been supporting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing since 1921. Our purpose is to foster a community of communication, and whether we’re providing someone NDIS support, teaching people Auslan, or running social events, we’re here for the Deaf community. We provide services for all members of the community in four different areas; interpreting, support services, NDIS advocacy and navigation, and Auslan and training. We are also proud to have the Governor of Western Australia, The Honourable Kim Beazley AC as our patron.¬†

Access for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is at the centre of everything we do, and this is evident in our 4 values; community, access, inclusion, and progress. For nearly 100 years we’ve been here for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in WA, and in these 100 years we’ve provided more than 500 000 hours of interpreting and have supported more than 100 000 people. By supporting people to alleviate communication barriers, we can continue to foster a community of communication without limits.

Learn a little about Access Plus wA Deaf

We’ve not always gone by the name Access Plus WA Deaf. We were previously the WA Deaf Society and in 1921 we started as the Western Australian Adult Deaf Society. Throughout the name changes, we’ve always been here for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in WA. With the transition to the NDIS, people have more control in the services they receive, and we’re here to help people navigate the new system.
